Pacaya Volcano (8370ft / 2552m) may not be Guatemala’s highest peak, however its slopes and smoldering lava fields are certainly some of the most impressive volcanic landscapes in all of Central America. Set in its own National Park Pacaya is a storybook volcano with continuous plumes of smoke and massive lava flow reforming the valley at the base of its caldera.
The bus from Antigua will take approx. 1 hour 20 min. to Pacaya Volcano. No matter what conditions we encounter on the volcano our group will have the opportunity to traverse unique volcanic-rocks landscapes as we ascend towards the peak. We’ll undoubtedly encounter geothermal hot-spots on the cooled lava formation which are always available to help roast marshmallows! – by the end of the tour, some refreshing drinks and snacks will be waiting for you while you admire the sunset views from this magical place.
